What is the concept of force majeure? What is its impact on the project?

The period of registration granted by the Authority can be extended in case of force majeure i.e. events beyond the control of the promoter.
Force majeure explained in RERA is a case of:

  • War
  • flood
  • drought
  • fire
  • cyclone
  • earthquake or
  • any other calamity caused by nature affecting the regular development of the real estate project.

In most States, extension fees need not be paid in case the extension is due to force majeure.
